Vormin is a broad-spectrum antihelminthic agent, but it is most effective for enterobiasis and trichocephalosis.
Release form and composition
Available in the form of tablets containing:
- 100 grams of mebendazole;
- The following excipients: gelatin, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate, calcium hydrogen phosphate, talc, starch, vanillin, dyes Sunseellow and dye Sunsetorange.
Vormin tablets are sold in 6 pcs. in blisters, which in one package can be 1 or 4.
Indications for use
According to the instructions to Warmin, the drug is intended for the treatment of:
- Echinococcosis invasions;
- Helminthiasis mixed etiology.
The use of Vormina, according to the instructions, is contraindicated:
- Breastfeeding women;
- During pregnancy;
- Children up to 2 years;
- In case of violations of the liver;
- When liver failure;
- Patients with ulcerative colitis;
- With Crohn's disease;
- In the presence of hypersensitivity to mebendazole or its analogs, as well as any auxiliary component of the drug.
Dosing and Administration
In enterobiasis, the drug is taken once: adults and children over 10 years old at a dose of 100 mg, children 2-10 years old - at a dosage of 25-50 mg. In cases of high likelihood of re-infection after 2-4 weeks, you should take the drug again in the same dose. If one person is infected, it is recommended to treat all family members.
In case of ascariasis, trichocephalosis, teniasis, strongyloidosis and ankylostoma of Vormin, 1 tablet is prescribed twice a day with an interval of 12 hours. The course of treatment is 3 days.
With trichinosis, the drug is taken in 200-400 mg three times a day during the first 3 days of treatment, from 4 to 10 days - 400-500 mg also three times a day. The total duration of treatment is 10 days.
In case of echinococcosis, Vormin is prescribed 500 mg twice a day for the first 3 days, the next 3 days in the same dose, but three times a day. The treatment lasts 6 days. If necessary, further treatment of the drug is taken in a dose that is calculated based on the weight of the patient - at the rate of 25-30 mg per kilogram of weight. The total daily dosage is divided into 3-4 doses, the duration of the use of Vormin is determined individually.
With helminth infections of mixed etiology, the drug is taken in 100 mg twice a day for 3 days.
According to the patient reviews, in most cases, Vormin is well tolerated and has no side effects.
In rare cases, there are:
- Nausea and abdominal pain (reactions of the digestive system);
- Dizziness (undesirable from the central nervous system).
With the use of Wormin for a long period and in high doses are possible:
- Transient increase in liver transaminase activity;
- Hair loss.
In the presence of hypersensitivity or intolerance to mebendazole or any auxiliary component, it is possible to develop allergic reactions in the form of a skin rash, accompanied by itching, urticaria, and even angioedema.
Exceeding the recommended therapeutic dose of Vormin is fraught with dyspeptic disorders. A significant excess of the dosage and / or taking the drug for a long time can lead to pathological changes in the composition of the blood, impaired liver function, and hepatitis. If you accidentally take too large doses of mebendazole, it is recommended to induce vomiting or do a gastric lavage in order to clear the gastrointestinal tract, and then take a strong sorbent. The simultaneous use of Vormin with lipophilic substances is not recommended.
It should be borne in mind that the concentration of mebendazole in the blood can increase cimetidine, and reduce carbamazepine and other inducers of metabolism.
Mebendazole is contraindicated in pregnant women, as it can have a negative effect on fetal development. For this reason, it is recommended to take a pregnancy test before taking Wormil in order to prevent the use of this drug in the early stages.
