Vokadin - a drug used to treat infectious diseases.
Release form and composition
Vocadin is released as a dark brown solution with an iodine odor in plastic bottles with droppers of 0.1, 0.5, 1, and 2 liters.
1 ml of the product contains 100 mg of povidone-iodine and excipients - sodium hydroxide, citric acid monohydrate, glycerol, purified water, AAO hypoxide (Igepal CO-630) and sodium phosphate dry.
They also produce a brown uniform ointment Vocadin, which has an iodine odor, in tubes of 15 g each. One gram of the product contains 100 mg of povidone-iodine and the excipient is a water-soluble base.
Another form of release of Vocadin are almond-shaped dark brown biconvex vaginal pessaries, in aluminum blisters of 14 pcs. One pessary contains 200 mg of povidone-iodine and such excipients as:
- Magnesium stearate;
- Purified water.
Indications for use
Vocadin solution, according to the instructions, is used for hygienic treatment of the mucous membranes and skin in the pre- and postoperative period, washing the pleural cavity, vagina and bladder, disinfecting the oral cavity during dental operations, washing and irrigating the nasopharynx during infections of the upper respiratory tract, as well as cases of antiseptic treatment of the umbilical cord of infants.
The drug in the form of an ointment is prescribed for the treatment of pyoderma, burns, wounds, cuts, ulcers and bedsores.
Vaginal pessaries Vokadin used in gynecology for candidiasis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, vaginosis, nonspecific vaginitis, gardnerellosis, mixed infections and genital herpes.
Vocadin use is contraindicated in pregnancy, hypothyroidism, renal failure, herpetiform dermatitis dermatitis, thyroid adenoma, simultaneously with radioactive iodine, as well as in cases of hypersensitivity to the components that form part of the drug, and during the breastfeeding period.
Dosing and Administration
Vocadin solution is applied to the skin with a spray or wet lining by lubrication. For rinsing the throat and mouth, diluted in water (in a 1: 2 ratio) or undiluted 10% solution is used.
The drug in the form of ointment is applied to the affected skin with a thin layer 1-3 times a day. It is allowed to apply over the ointment dressings.
Vaginal pessaries are moistened in water before use and injected through the applicator deep into the vagina. It is important immediately before using the tool to carry out hygienic treatment of the vagina. Dosage means in cases of acute conditions is 1 pc. twice a day, chronic infections - 1 pc. twice a day. The duration of therapy is 2 weeks.
The instructions for Vokadin indicated that the drug may cause allergic reactions, flushing, itching, neutropenia, hypothyroidism and goiter.
Symptoms of drug overdose are allergic reactions and local irritation. In such cases, the abolition of Vocadin or a reduction in the frequency of its use is required.
The drug in the form of a solution should not be heated before use. It is recommended to conduct a trial study before systematic use of Vocadin.
Drug therapy can be carried out in patients with diabetes. It is important to prevent the drug from getting into the eyes.

Terms and conditions of storage
Vokadin, according to the instructions, should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry place inaccessible to children and light, at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
Medicines are dispensed from a pharmacy without a doctor's prescription; its shelf life is two years. After expiration date Vokadin must be disposed of.
