Water pepper is a phytotherapeutic drug that has a hemostatic effect.
Release form and composition
Make Water pepper in the form of liquid extract for intake. 100 ml of the extract contains 100 g of the extract of the herb water pepper (highlander pepper). The auxiliary substance is ethanol 70%. In glass bottles of 25, 30 or 50 ml.
On sale you can also find dried herb water pepper, from which you can independently prepare the extract or tincture.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Water pepper in the form of an extract is indicated for use in:
- Abundant menstrual bleeding (in combination with other drugs), as well as bleeding from small vessels and capillaries of the intestine and stomach, weak hemorrhoidal bleeding;
- Slight bleeding in the post-coagulation period of treatment of cervical erosion.
The use of water pepper reduces the permeability of blood vessels and strengthens them, accelerates blood clotting.
Water pepper extract enhances muscle contraction in the uterus and has a pronounced bactericidal effect.
In addition to the above indications, the drug is used in various skin diseases, varicose veins, dysentery, gastric and duodenal ulcers, sand and stones in the kidneys and bladder.
According to the instructions, water pepper is contraindicated for use in the following cases:
- Children's age up to 18 years;
- Increased blood clotting;
With caution, the extract is prescribed for alcoholism (the drug contains ethanol), brain diseases, traumatic brain injuries and liver diseases.
Dosing and Administration
Water Pepper Extract is taken 3-4 times a day, 30-40 drops before meals.
Homemade tincture taken in a third cup 3-4 times a day before meals. It is forbidden to take the drug without first consulting with a doctor.
The use of water pepper by patients is transferred in most cases positively. However, such side effects as nausea, headache, dizziness are not excluded. Perhaps the development of allergic reactions in the form of skin rash, itching, swelling.
In the event of the occurrence of the above side effects, the use of the drug is recommended to stop. If there is swelling in the throat area and is constantly increasing, you should immediately seek medical help.
It should be borne in mind that the content of absolute alcohol in a single dose of the extract is 0.55 g, in a daily dose - 2.2 g.
Patients during the period of treatment with Water Pepper should be careful when controlling potentially dangerous mechanisms that require increased concentration of attention.
Cases of overdose so far not identified.
During pregnancy, the use of extract or tincture of water pepper is contraindicated. The use of the drug during breastfeeding is also not recommended, except in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risks to the baby.
Structural analogues of water pepper does not exist.
As medicines that have similar pharmacological effects, we can distinguish:
- Arnica tincture;
- Nettle grass;
- Nettle leaves;
- Yarrow grass.
Terms and conditions of storage
Water Pepper Extract should be stored in a cool place, out of the reach of children. Shelf life is 3.5 years.
Homemade tincture is stored in a cool place for no longer than two days.
