Vizin is a local vasoconstrictor used in ophthalmology.
Release form and composition
The line of drugs manufactured under the trademark Vizin is represented by the following means:
- Vizin Classic;
- Vizin Net Tear;
- Vizin Net Tear (for one day);
- Vizin Alergi.
Available in the form of eye drops.
1 ml of Vizin Classic contains 500 µg of tetrizoline hydrochloride, the following auxiliary components: boric acid, edetate disodium, sodium chloride, 17% solution of benzalkonium chloride, sodium borate, purified water. In pharmacies comes in bottles with a dropper with a volume of 15 ml.
The Clean Tear solution contains: TS-polysaccharide 0.5%, mannitol, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, benzalkonium chloride, purified water. It is sold in 0.5 ml vials (for one day) and 10 ml.
1 ml of Vizin Alerji contains 500 µg of levocabastine, excipients: propylene glycol, hypromellose, sodium hydrogen phosphate monohydrate, benzalkonium chloride, polysorbate, disodium edetate, polysorbate 80, and injectable water. Implemented in 4 ml in plastic bottles with a drip device.
Indications for use
According to the instructions to Vizin, the drug is intended to relieve swelling and hyperemia of the conjunctiva caused by allergies, chemical or physical factors, such as:
- Excessive smoke;
- Chlorinated water;
- Bright light;
- Contact lenses;
- Long work at the computer;
- Car driving.
Vizin Pure tear, moreover, is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye syndrome associated with impaired secretion of the tear fluid.
Vizin Alergi is intended for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.
The use of Vizin of all varieties is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
In addition, Classic should not be used:
- Patients with angle-closure glaucoma;
- With endothelial epithelial dystrophy of the cornea;
- Children up to 2 years;
Contraindications to Allergie are also:
- Children's age up to 12 years;
- Wearing contact lenses.
Vizin Classic can be used, but with caution when:
- Serious diseases of the heart and blood vessels (including ischemic disease, arrhythmia, hypertension, aneurysm);
- Pheochromocytoma (tumors of the adrenal medulla cells, which provoke excessive secretion of catecholamines);
- The use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other drugs that are characterized by the ability to increase blood pressure.
Dosing and Administration
The standard scheme of application of Vizin involves the instillation of the solution, 1-2 drops in each eye 2-4 times a day.
Before instillation, tilt the head back slightly, remove the cap and turn the bottle upside down. It is necessary to ensure that the dropper nose does not come into contact with hands and any surfaces. After instillation, close the vial tightly with the cap.
According to the instructions, Vizin Classic should not be used for more than 4 days in a row. A clean tear is suitable for regular use. Treatment with Vizin Alerji is carried out until the symptoms disappear.
The drug is usually well tolerated. However, in rare cases with Vizin, the following side effects may occur:
- Redness of the eye;
- Pupil dilation;
- Conjunctival irritation;
- Feeling of discomfort;
- Pain and tingling sensation in the eye;
- Blurred vision.
In the event of at least one of the above symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor.
An overdose of Vizin is considered unlikely, but if the solution gets accidentally in the digestive tract, it can be noted:
- Pupil dilation;
- Increased seizure activity;
- Arterial hypertension;
- Impaired respiratory function;
- Pulmonary edema;
- Dysfunction of the central nervous system;
In connection with the absorption of Vizin into the systemic circulation, newborn babies and young children are most at risk of overdose symptoms (especially if the drops are accidentally swallowed).
Treatment involves taking activated charcoal, inhalation of oxygen, carrying out a gastric lavage procedure, taking antipyretic and anticonvulsant drugs. If the patient is required to reduce high blood pressure, a slow IV administration of 5 mg of phentolamine diluted in saline solution or oral administration of phentolamine at a dose of 100 mg is indicated. It should be borne in mind that people with low blood pressure is contraindicated for taking vasopressor drugs.
There is no specific antidote Vizin.
Do not use Vizin simultaneously with other ophthalmic agents, as this may affect its pharmacological properties.
According to the instructions, Vizin contains benzalkonium chloride (as a preservative) - it is able to penetrate into the material of soft contact lenses, therefore, they should be removed before instillation, and can be placed no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation.
It does not follow:
- Rinse the vial spout with detergent;
- Use drops in case of damage to the integrity of the original packaging;
- Take the solution inside;
- Use the drug after 4 weeks after opening the bottle.

Drugs with a similar mechanism of action: Betadrin, Okumetil, Polynadim, Sanorin-Analergin, Spersallerg, Oxymetazoline, Oftofenazol, Ditadrin.
Terms and conditions of storage
Vizin is an over-the-counter drug. It should be stored at temperatures up to 25 ºС in a place protected from sunlight. The shelf life of the drops is 3 years, after opening the bottle, they must be used within 4 weeks.
