Virkon - antiseptic and disinfectant.
Release form and composition
Virkon is available in the form of a powder used to prepare a disinfectant solution. The powder is a stabilized mixture of organic acids, surfactants, peroxide compounds and inorganic buffer. The main component of Vircon is potassium persulfate.
The drug is available in polyethylene-laminated paper bags of 50 g in 25 pieces in a carton, or in containers of 500 g, equipped with a dosing spoon.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Virkon is used for treating foci of infectious diseases, disinfecting dishes, instruments, equipment in medical institutions, and disinfecting the area of surgical intervention.
The instruction to Virkon does not contain instructions about any contraindications to the preparation.
Dosing and Administration
For the preparation of a disinfectant solution, the contents of one measuring spoon are dissolved in 1 liter of water, one sachet in 5 l of water.
Medical devices, instruments, laboratory medical equipment, indoor working surfaces should be treated with 1% Vircon solution for 10 minutes.
Carpets, items and other objects infected with body fluids should first be sprinkled with powder for 3 minutes and then treated with a 1% Vircon solution.
For processing linen also use a 1% solution. The laundry is first soaked in it for 10 minutes and then washed and rinsed.
If Mycobacterium tuberculosis is suspected, a 3% vircon solution is used within 5 minutes.
When infected with Parvoviridae, a 2% solution is applied within 10 minutes.
The instructions for the drug do not report adverse reactions when Virkon is used.
The prepared solution Virkon can be used within seven days.
Analogs of Vircon
Structural analogues Virkon currently has not.
Terms and conditions of storage
The drug should be stored at a temperature of 15-25 ºC in places with limited access of children, not more than three years.
