Vikair is a complex drug used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis, which has antacid, astringent, antispasmodic and laxative effects.
Release form and composition
Produce Vicare tablets containing the following active ingredients:
- 350 mg of bismuth nitrate;
- 400 mg of magnesium carbonate;
- 200 mg of sodium bicarbonate;
- 25 mg of powder of calamus rhizomes;
- 25 mg of buckthorn bark powder.
Auxiliary substances of the drug are starch, talc, stearic acid.

Indications for use
According to the instructions, Vikair is prescribed for peptic ulcer disease, characterized by the presence of a localized process in the stomach or duodenal ulcer, as well as in hyperacid gastritis with a tendency to constipation.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Vikair is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Children and adolescents (up to 18 years);
- Chronic appendicitis;
- Hypersensitivity to one or more active components of the drug;

Dosing and Administration
Vikair tablets are intended for internal use. Take the medicine after a meal, after 1.5-2 hours, drinking plenty of liquids (at least a quarter of a glass).
A single dose is 1-2 tablets three times a day.
Duration of treatment with Vicar is 1-2 months.
Side effects
The use of Vikiram by patients is tolerated positively, side effects are rare.
The most noticeable side effect of Vikiram is blackening of the feces, which can greatly frighten an unprepared person for this side effect.

Patients should be aware that the drug may contribute to the development of encephalopathy associated with the accumulation of bismuth in the central nervous system. As a rule, this effect is observed with prolonged use of Vikair in high doses.
In case of an overdose, the patient should undergo a gastric lavage, take activated charcoal. In severe cases, hemodialysis is indicated.
During pregnancy, Vikair can be prescribed only when absolutely necessary, when the intended benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. There is a risk of bismuth encephalopathy in the fetus.
Included in the Vikair antacids can have effects on the absorption of many drugs: reduce the absorption of anticoagulants, blockers, H2 receptor, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, antiepileptic drugs, cardiac glycosides, ACE inhibitors, rifampicin, immunosuppressants, zalcitabine, antihistamines, antifungals, salicylates, fluoroquinolones , antiplatelet agents, macrolides.
