Dosing and Administration
Drug treatment is carried out by a dentist.
At the initial stage, the removal of supragingival dental calculus is shown. At the same time, the gum pockets are washed with a stream of warm water or a spray.
Then, using a probe, loose wadded cotton swabs are plentifully moistened with Maraslavin and then poured into the gums and bone pockets (for this, 20-25 ml of the preparation are poured into a glass jar). The size of tampons depends on the width of the bone or alveolar pocket. Leave them for 5-6 minutes.
During the first session, the procedure described above is repeated 5-6 times in succession on each pocket. Each time the tampon wilts deeper and easier into the alveolar pocket. The last tampons are left loose in their pockets until the next session. At the same time, the patient is warned that if the body temperature rises (this is possible due to purulent exudation), you should remove the tampons yourself and go to the dentist.
At the beginning of the second session, tampons are removed, then the subgingival dental calculus. Again, tampons with Maraslavin are injected several times, and the latter are left until the next session.
A total of 17 to 20 treatments are shown. The first 5-6 spend every 24 hours, the time of further sessions determines the dentist. In total, the treatment course lasts 3 months.
After 5-6 months after the start of therapy, the patient is examined. Regardless of the state of the gums, at least 1-2 times (and, if necessary, more) Maraslavin is treated with the same places on the alveoli to eliminate possible pathogens. Control tests carried out 12 months after the start of treatment.
Basically Maraslavin well tolerated. With increased sensitivity to the drug there is a chance of developing allergic reactions.
With the dense imposition of tampons, subfebrile is possible due to the violation of the outflow of purulent exudate (after removing tampons it passes by itself).
During treatment the patient is recommended:
- Refrain from eating spicy and irritating foods (onions, garlic, nuts);
- Eat foods rich in vitamins;
- Additionally, take vitamins A and C;
- Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun;
- Every day - in the morning and in the evening - rinse the mouth with cool water;
- Do not brush your teeth with toothpaste or use disinfectant mouthwash.
Data on the safety of use during pregnancy and lactation is not provided.
When storing the solution precipitates. This reaction is considered normal and does not affect the effectiveness of the drug.
Information about the interaction of Maraslavin with other drugs is missing.
