Magnesium plus

Magnesium plus - a drug that compensates for the lack of magnesium in the body.

Release form and composition

Magnesium Plus is produced in the form of effervescent tablets: round, flat-cylindrical, with a beveled edge, white with a slightly yellowish-green tint or white, with a slight specific smell, on one side is a dividing strip (in canisters of 10 or 12 pcs., 1 canister in a cardboard box; in blisters or strips of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 pcs., 1-5, 10, 15 blisters or strips of a cardboard bundle).

The composition of 1 effervescent tablet contains active ingredients:

• Magnesium Lactate - 200 mg;
• Magnesium carbonate - 100 mg;
• Pyridoxine hydrochloride, 2 mg;
• Cyanocobalamin - 0.001 mg;
• Folic acid - 0.2 mg.

Auxiliary components: citric acid, sodium bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate), aromatic additive, polyethylene glycol (macrogol), sodium saccharinate, sorbitol.

Indications for use

Magnesium plus is used for magnesium deficiency and related conditions.

Contraindications

• Severe renal failure;
• Age up to 6 years;
• Lactation period;
• Hypersensitivity to the drug.

With caution, Magnesium Plus is used for moderate renal failure (due to the risk of hypermagnesia).

Dosing and Administration

Tablets previously dissolved in a glass of water are taken orally in the morning.

Dosing regimen:

• Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1/2 tablet per day;
• Adults: 1-2 tablets per day.

Side effects

During treatment with Magnesium plus, dyspeptic disorders (abdominal pain, diarrhea) and allergic reactions may develop. In cases of the use of higher doses of the drug may develop hypermagnesia.

With a concomitant calcium deficiency, drugs for its elimination can be prescribed only after the end of the intake of Magnesium Plus.

The need for magnesium increases with increased mental and physical exertion, frequent use of alcohol or laxatives.

Drug interaction

When magnesium is used in combination with calcium salts or phosphates, its absorption in the gastrointestinal tract decreases.

Pyridoxine hydrochloride inhibits the activity of levodopa.

Preparations containing magnesium reduce the absorption of tetracycline, and therefore the interval of 3 hours should be observed between taking them and using magnesium plus.
