Lorinden C is a combined preparation for external use from the group of glucocorticosteroids (GCS) with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal effects.
Release form and composition
Lorinden C is produced in the form of an ointment: oily, white in color with a gray or light yellow shade (15 g each in aluminum tubes, in a cardboard bundle one tube).
Active ingredients of the drug (1 g ointment):
- Clioquinol - 30 mg;
- Flumethasone Pivalate - 0.2 mg.
Excipients: Vaseline and white beeswax.
Indications for use
Lorinden C is intended for the treatment of allergic dermatosis, complicated by bacterial infection caused by microorganisms sensitive to clioquinol:
- Erythema multiforme;
- Psoriasis, incl. psoriasis of the scalp (especially old forms);
- Atopic dermatitis (common neurodermatitis);
- Dermatitis (including allergic, seborrheic, contact, sunny, professional);
- Dermatosis that is not susceptible to GCS therapy (including discoid lupus erythematosus and lichen planus);
- Secondary infections with insect bites.
Lorinden C is also used for fungal and bacterial infections of the skin, complicated by local allergic reactions:
- Actinomycosis, ringworm, sporotrichosis, blastomycosis;
- Infected diaper rash;
Lorinden C is strictly contraindicated in the following cases:
- Perioral dermatitis;
- Acne vulgaris and rosacea;
- Trophic ulcers of the legs caused by varicose veins;
- Viral skin diseases (chickenpox, herpes);
- Condition after vaccination;
- Skin manifestations of syphilis;
- Pre-cancerous conditions and skin neoplasms (atheroma, nevus, melanoma, xanthoma, hemangioma, epithelioma, skin cancer, sarcoma);
- Infections of the skin (if necessary, use with an occlusive dressing);
- Children's age up to 10 years;
- Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Caution should be used for older people and patients with atrophic skin changes.
Controlled studies on the teratogenic effects of the drug in its local application during pregnancy have not been conducted. Therefore, it is not recommended to prescribe Lorinden C in the first trimester; in the second and third trimesters, it is possible only if the expected benefit outweighs the possible risks.
It is not known whether the active ingredients of the drug are excreted with breast milk in case of its external use, and therefore during lactation the drug can be used only in exceptional cases, on limited skin areas (except for the mammary glands) and for a short time.
Dosing and Administration
Lorinden C is intended for external use. The ointment should be applied with a thin layer on the skin in the affected area: at the beginning of treatment - 2-3 times a day, after the appearance of positive dynamics - 1-2 times a day.
The maximum daily dose is 2 g ointment. The maximum duration of treatment is 2 weeks.
If necessary, use a means for dressing should use a material that permits air.
When hyperkeratosis and excessive lichenization ointment should be applied under the occlusive dressing, but not more than 1 time in 1-2 days. In this case, the duration of therapy should not exceed 1 week.
Adolescents over 10 years old should use the drug in exceptional cases and only on limited skin areas, with the exception of the face.
Basically, Lorinden C is well tolerated, in rare cases local reactions occur, such as itching, burning, dry skin, striae, folliculitis, steroid acne.
Prolonged treatment may cause pigmentation disorders, telangiectasia, purpura, local hirsutism, and skin atrophy.
In addition, with prolonged use and / or application to large areas of skin there is a risk of systemic side effects inherent to glucocorticosteroids. In this case, the drug should be gradually discontinued and symptomatic therapy should be given.
It is not recommended to increase the duration of the course of treatment, apply Lorinden C on the skin of the face, apply for a long time on large areas of skin.
When applying it is important to be careful to prevent the ointment from getting into the eyes.
In the case of the development of a secondary infection at the place of application of the ointment, it is necessary to prescribe agents with a more pronounced antifungal or antibacterial effect.
With prolonged use there is a risk of the development of resistance of bacterial microflora to clioquinol.
In exceptional cases and only under close medical supervision, Lorinden C may be prescribed for fungal diseases accompanied by secondary allergic reactions.
Negative impact on the psychophysical activity and ability to concentrate the drug has no effect.
Due to the fact that Lorinden C has an immunosuppressive effect, during treatment it is impossible to carry out immunization and vaccination.
Ointment should not be prescribed simultaneously with other drugs for external use.
Flumethasone reduces the effectiveness of anticoagulants, antihypertensive and hypoglycemic drugs, reduces the concentration of praziquantel and salicylates in blood serum.
In the case of joint use, Lorinden C increases the risk of side effects of the following drugs: cardiac glycosides (digitalis intoxication); diuretics (hypokalemia); oral contraceptives, androgens, estrogens, anabolic steroids (hirsutism, acne); antipsychotics, azathioprine, bucarban (cataract); tricyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, nitrates, anticholinergics (glaucoma).
