Lavender is a plant with diuretic, anticonvulsant and sedative effects.
Lavender belongs to the genus of plants of the family Yasnotkovyh, numbering about 25-30 species. For medicinal purposes, mainly narrow-leaved lavender is used (otherwise, real, spiky or spikelet).
In all parts of the plant contains essential (lavender) oil, the main component of which are esters of alcohol L-linalool and acids (butyric, acetic, caproic and valeric). In addition, it contains geraniol, cineol, borneol and other substances.
The flowers also contain bitterness and resin, tannins, ursolic acid, herniarin, coumarin.
Lavender flowers contribute to the improvement of cerebral circulation and have a diuretic, sedative and anticonvulsant action.
In folk medicine, alcohol solutions of lavender oil and flowers are used in the treatment of neurasthenia, migraine, rheumatism, cardiovascular diseases, urolithiasis, pyelonephritis, skin diseases, neuralgia, contusions, dislocations, inflamed joints (medical baths), and also as a wound healing agent.
Lavender oil has bactericidal and antiseptic properties. A solution of lavender essential oil stimulates wound healing without rough scars on the skin.
Lavender oil is included in the composition of medicines with neuro-and myotropic activity, as well as in the solution for inhalation used in the treatment of influenza. In Bulgaria, it is used in dentistry and inhalation treatment of laryngitis, rhinitis and pneumonia.
With neurasthenia and palpitations, the plant is used as a therapeutic bath as a sedative.

Lavender in the form of infusion is shown to be used as a source of flavonoids and tannins.
Lavender oil should be used for stress, insomnia, treatment of skin diseases and diseases of the cardiovascular system.

For the preparation of infusion of lavender 5 g (1 tablespoon) of crushed vegetable raw materials should be poured 200 ml (1 cup) of boiling water, insist for 15 minutes, drain. As a source of flavonoids and tannins, the infusion is taken during meals 2 times a day, 100 ml (1/2 cup).
