Intetrix is an antiprotozoal drug.
Release form and composition
Intrix is available in the form of capsules (10 or 20 pieces per pack).
Active ingredients of the drug:
- Tilbrohinol - 200 mg;
- Tilikhinol - 50 mg;
- Tilikhinol lauryl sulfate - 50 mg.
* total content of tilikhinol in 1 capsule - from 65.2 mg to 72.2 mg (presumably 68.7 mg ± 5%).
Auxiliary components: corn starch and lactose monohydrate.
The composition of the capsule: gelatin, titanium dioxide, indigotin and azorubin.
Indications for use
Intrix is prescribed for adults. Indications:
- Amebiasis - in combination with tissue amebicides;
- Asymptomatic cases of diagnosed amebiasis (amoebiasis) - as a single drug.
Intetrix is not prescribed in the case of a known hypersensitivity to its components.
Special supervision during treatment is necessary for patients with a liver failure.
In animal studies, no teratogenic effect has been identified. However, the experience of using the drug during pregnancy is not enough to assess the potential risks of a phototoxic effect and the development of congenital malformations. Studies about the effect of Intetrix on lactation in animals have not been conducted. For this reason, it is undesirable to use the drug during pregnancy and lactation.
Dosing and Administration
Capsules are ingested 2 pcs. twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. The course of treatment is 10 days. They should be swallowed whole, without chewing, drinking plenty of water, preferably at the beginning of a meal.
Basically, the drug is well tolerated. In rare cases, it is possible to increase the content of transaminases and the development of allergic reactions (urticaria, persistent erythema pigment, angioedema).
Extremely rare, mainly with long-term use, transient optic nerve disorders, peripheral neuropathy may occur.
During the period of treatment with Intetrix, it is necessary to control the activity of serum transaminases, especially in patients with renal insufficiency. In the case of increased levels of enzymes, therapy should be discontinued.
The drug is not used for a long time, because There is a high risk of developing peripheral neuropathy.
Intetrix is prohibited to use in combination with drugs containing hydroxyquinolines.
