Imudon is an immunostimulating agent of bacterial origin, which also has anti-infective and anti-inflammatory effects, intended for local use in otolaryngology and dentistry.
Release form and composition
Available in the form of lozenges with mint odor (8 pieces in a blister, 3 or 5 blisters per pack).
Imudon is a polyvalent antigen complex consisting of bacterial lysates - pathogens that most often cause inflammation in the mouth and pharynx.
The composition includes a mixture imudon lysates of bacteria: Corynebacteriumpseudodiphtheriticum, Candidaalbicans, Lactobacillusfermentum, Lactobacillusacidophilus, Lactobacillusdelbrueckiisslactis, Lactobacillushelveticus, StreptococcussangiusgroupeH, Staphylococcusaureus, StreptococcuspyogenesgroupeA, Fusobacteriumnucleatumssfusiforme, Enterococcusfaecium, Enterococcusfaecalis, Klebsiellapneumoniaesspneumoniae.
Additional components of the drug: lactose monohydrate, sodium deoxycholate, mannitol, thiomersal, sodium saccharinate, glycine, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium stearate, povidone, anhydrous citric acid, mint flavor.
Indications for use
Imudon is used for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx:
- Superficial and deep periodontal disease;
- Erythematous and ulcerative gingivitis;
- Glossite;
- Dysbacteriosis of the oral cavity;
- Stomatitis, including aphthous;
- Pharyngitis;
- Ulcerations caused by dentures;
- Periodontitis;
- Chronic tonsillitis;
- Infections after tooth extraction and implantation of artificial dental roots.
In addition, for the prevention of infections Imudon is prescribed during the period of preoperative preparation and after tonsillectomy (removal of the tonsils).
Contraindications
Imudon contraindicated:
- During lactation;
- Children up to 3 years;
- In autoimmune diseases;
- In case of hypersensitivity to the drug.
Clinical studies on the safety and efficacy of Imudon during pregnancy have not been conducted, so they are prescribed it only if the expected benefit for the expectant mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Dosing and Administration
Tablets should be kept in the mouth until completely dissolved. In order not to reduce the therapeutic efficacy of the drug within an hour after taking it you should not drink water, eat food and rinse your mouth.
With the exacerbation of chronic and acute inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx, adults and adolescents over 14 years old are prescribed 8 tablets per day. The interval between doses is 1-2 hours. For children of 3-14 years old, for therapeutic purposes, 4-6 tablets are prescribed per day at the same intervals.
The duration of therapy is determined by the characteristics and extent of the inflammatory process. The average course of treatment is 10 days.
As a preventive measure, both adults and children can take up to 6 tablets per day at 2-hour intervals for 20 days. In the year you can spend 3-4 courses.
Side effects
Basically, the drug is well tolerated. Sometimes patients complain of abdominal pain, nausea and / or vomiting.
In rare cases, fever, thrombocytopenia, erythema nodosum, hemorrhagic vasculitis may develop.
In case of hypersensitivity or intolerance to any component of Imudon, there is a risk of developing allergic reactions, including skin rash, itching, urticaria and angioedema.
Patients with bronchial asthma may worsen the disease.
No cases of an overdose of Imudon have been reported.

Children from 3 to 6 years should dissolve the tablet under the supervision of adults.
Imudon does not adversely affect the reaction rate and ability to concentrate.
