The snake mountaineer is a grassy perennial from the buckwheat family. Other plant names are cancer cervical, serpentine large, snake root.
Erect not toothed branching plant stem in height reaches 1-1.2 meters. Stem leaves are small, pointed, oblong in shape, their petioles grow together with stipules, forming membranous tubes - the so-called sockets. Basal leaves of a highlander are large with long winged petioles.
The inflorescence is a long spike (brush) formed by small pink flowers at the top of the stem. The fruits of the highlander have the appearance of a triangular smooth nutlet of dark brown color. Its length is from 3 to 4.5 mm.
Flowering time - May-June. The fruits ripen in June and July.
The plant is widespread in the temperate climate zone. The snake mountaineer grows best on wet, acidic soils: its thickets can be found around water bodies, on swampy peat and damp floodplain meadows, and also on forest glades.

An alcoholic tincture of a snake's mountaineer is prepared as follows: 100 g of medicinal raw materials are poured with 0.5 l of alcohol (70%) and, occasionally shaking, insist in a cool, darkened place for 15 days. The finished tincture is filtered and taken 2-3 times a day before meals, 30-40 drops.
For pharyngitis, tonsillitis, gingivitis and stomatitis, 4 spoons of crushed roots are poured with a glass of boiling water and left for 20 minutes.
