Glevenol is a veno-tonic oral agent that reduces capillary permeability, reduces edema, has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.
Release form and composition
The dosage form of Glevenol is a soft orange gelatin capsule.
The active ingredient of the drug is tribenoside. Its concentration in one capsule is 400 mg.
Auxiliary components used in the manufacture of drugs are sodium propyl paraben, canthaxanthin 10%, glycerol 85%, gelatin, sodium ethyl paraben and ethanol absolute.
Capsules are packaged in blisters of 10 pcs. In one package can be 2, 4 or 10 blisters.
Indications for use
In accordance with the instructions for Glevenol, the active substance of the drug has a venodynamic effect (reduces congestion in the veins and increases their tone), improves microcirculation, reduces fragility and permeability of blood vessels, reduces the ability of platelets to adhere, prevents the development of pathological processes in the veins, the capillary bed and paravenous tissues. In addition, tribenoside has anti-anaphylactic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity, especially in pain caused by inflammation and / or edema.
Given the properties described, Glevenol is used as a means of restoring venous circulation. In particular, the drug is used in the treatment of:
- Varicose veins, accompanied by edema syndrome and pain;
- Hemorrhoids (impaired blood flow in the hemorrhoidal veins);
- Violations of the venous circulation, manifested mainly by heaviness and tension in the legs, feeling of fatigue, pain and swelling after prolonged sitting / standing.
As an auxiliary drug, Glevenol is used:
- In the treatment of postthrombotic syndrome, phlebitis and periphleitis;
- In the period before and after sclerotherapy.
The use of Glevenol contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active or any auxiliary component of the drug.
Whether tribenozide penetrates into breast milk is not known for certain, therefore it is not necessary to take medicine during lactation.
It is not recommended to prescribe Glevenol in the first trimester of pregnancy. If there are vital indications, he can be assigned in the second and third trimesters, but only after a careful assessment of the ratio of the expected benefits for the future mother and the potential risks to her child.
Dosing and Administration
According to the instructions to Glevenol, the drug should be taken with food or immediately after the end of the meal.
The standard daily dosage is 800 mg - 1 capsule twice a day.
The recommended daily dose at the same time is the maximum, it is not recommended to exceed it, because, according to the doctors, there is no further increase in the therapeutic effect in this case, but the risk of developing or increasing the severity of side effects increases.
The duration of application of Glevenol in each case is determined individually. The course of treatment lasts at least 2 weeks, even if there is a rapid regression of the symptoms of the disease.
Patients whose activity is associated with increased load on the legs, it is recommended to periodically undergo repeated preventive courses of treatment. The frequency of such courses should be determined by the physician, taking into account the risk of exacerbation of the disease or the development of complications.
According to the annotation, the drug is generally well tolerated. In some cases, when using Glevenol, there are minor dermatological reactions in the form of skin rash and itching, which usually disappear themselves after cessation of therapy. Serious cases requiring appropriate action are extremely rare.
Sometimes patients complain of dyspeptic disorders. But, it is worth noting, they usually are light or moderate and disappear after stopping treatment.
Very rarely - in cases of intolerance to any component of Glevenol - there is a possibility of the development of allergic reactions. There are several cases of systemic anaphylaxis, including urticaria, impaired circulation and respiration, angioedema.
No cases of overdose of Glevenol have been reported to date.
The drug interaction of Glevenol in the official instructions is not described, i.e. no clinically significant combinations have been identified. However, if you need to use any other drug, it is recommended to consult with your doctor to ensure their pharmacological compatibility.

According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, capsules should be stored in a cool place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. The optimum storage temperature is from 15 to 30 ºС. At observance of the described conditions, the shelf life of the drug is 5 years.
