Gyno-Pevaril - antifungal and antiseptic drug used in gynecology.
Release form and composition
Gyno-Pevaril vaginal suppositories are made, containing the active ingredient - econazole nitrate - in the amount of 50 or 150 mg. A solid fat, type A and B, acts as an excipient. In blisters of 3 or 5 suppositories.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Gyno-Pevaril is indicated for use for the treatment of vulvovaginal mycosis.
Contraindications
The drug should not be used in the following cases:
- Age up to 16 years;
- Hypersensitivity to econazole nitrate.
According to the instructions, Gyno-Pevaril is prescribed with caution and under close medical supervision with an elderly person (65 years and older), since data on the use of the drug for this age group are limited.
Dosing and Administration
Gyno-Pevara suppositories administered intravaginally. The drug is injected deep into the vagina, being in a horizontal position. It is necessary to introduce candles immediately before going to bed.
The course of treatment with suppositories at a dose of 50 mg is at least 2 weeks. It is recommended to undergo a full course of medication treatment, even if the symptoms of the disease disappear earlier (leucorrhea, itching).
The duration of therapy with suppositories of Gyno-Pevaril in a dose of 150 mg is three days. If the patient has a relapse of the disease or a culture test has shown a positive result, it is recommended to undergo a repeated course of drug treatment with a break of one week.
Side effects
In most cases, the use of Gyno-Pevara is positively tolerated by patients. At observance of the recommended dosing regimen no side effects occur.
In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions to the active substance of suppositories in the form of redness, peeling of the skin, burning, itching, rashes and irritations are possible. In isolated cases, more pronounced allergic reactions in the form of contact dermatitis, urticaria, angioedema, and erythema were observed.
If the patient has severe irritation, it is recommended to discontinue the drug therapy and contact the doctor in charge of selecting an analogue with a similar pharmacological action, but containing another active ingredient.
In practice, cases of overdose Gyno-Pevarila not met. Theoretically, it is allowed to enhance existing side effects.
If you accidentally take Gyno-Pevara inward nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are not excluded. In this case, it is recommended to do a gastric lavage, take activated charcoal and carry out symptomatic treatment.

It is not recommended to combine Gyno-Pevaril with latex barrier contraceptives, diaphragms. This is due to the fact that with the joint use of anti-infective vaginal preparations and the above-mentioned methods of contraception, the effectiveness of the latter may be reduced.
When using spermicidal contraceptives, patients are advised to consult with their physician, since anti-infective drugs for intravaginal use can inactivate spermicidal contraceptives.
Patients taking anticoagulants for oral administration, such as acenocoumarol or warfarin, should monitor blood clotting rates.
It is not recommended to combine Gyno-Pevaril with other medicines for the treatment of diseases of the genital organs, administered externally or orally.
The use of Gyno-Pevarila does not affect the management of potentially dangerous mechanisms that require increased concentration of attention.
The use of the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy is not recommended, except in cases where the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the possible risks to the fetus. During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, Gyno-Pevaril can be used without fear for the fetus.
Since it is not known whether the active substance Gyno-Pevaril penetrates into breast milk, its use during breastfeeding is undesirable.
