Plantain Gerbion is a medicinal product intended for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory system.
Release form and composition
Release the drug in the form of a brown or reddish-brown syrup with a characteristic odor in dark glass bottles of 150 ml. The manufacturer allowed the presence of minor opalescence in the tool.
In 5 ml of syrup contains 1.25 g of liquid extract of the leaves of plantain lanceolate and mallow flowers, 65 mg of ascorbic acid and the following excipients:
- Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218);
- Orange oil.
Indications for use
Plantain herbion syrup is used to treat diseases of the upper respiratory tract (in complex therapy), accompanied by a dry cough. Also, the drug is prescribed to smokers when dry cough appears.
The use of the drug is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age, during pregnancy and during the breastfeeding period. Herbionum plantain syrup is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to the components included in its composition, as well as in the following cases:
- Syndrome impaired absorption of galactose or glucose;
- Congenital fructose intolerance;
- Congenital deficiency of sucrase or isomaltase.
Dosing and Administration
The drug is taken orally with a large amount of liquid (warm water or tea) after a meal. The dosage of the drug depends on the age of the patient, namely:
- Children over 14 years old and adults take 2 scoops 3 to 5 times a day;
- Children 7-14 years prescribed 1-2 scoops means three times a day;
- Children from 2 to 7 years take one scoop of syrup three times a day.
The duration of therapy varies within 14-21 days. As prescribed by the attending physician, an increase in the duration or a repeated course of treatment is possible.
The instructions to the Herbion syrup plantain indicated that the tool may cause allergic reactions.
It is recommended that if side effects develop, stop taking the remedy and consult a doctor for advice.
Cases of overdose of the drug to date has not been registered.
When applying Gerbion plantain syrup, it should be borne in mind that in 5 ml of the product contains 4 g of sucrose. Since the recommended dose of the drug is 5-10 ml of syrup, patients receive from 4 to 8 g of sucrose several times a day.
Syrup can not be prescribed simultaneously with antitussive drugs and drugs that reduce the formation of sputum, since such a combination makes it difficult to cough up the liquefied sputum.
Drug synonyms are not released. The analogues of the Herbiona syrup plantain include Mukaltin, Amtersol, Cook, Suprima-Broncho, Codelac Broncho, Althea syrup, Theraflu Bro, Bronhikum, Linkas Law, Evkabal, Doctor Mom, Fitantis, Gedelix and Pectusin.
Terms and conditions of storage
The instructions to the Gerbion plantain syrup indicate that the product should be stored in a dry place out of reach of children, in a well-ventilated place and protected from light, at a temperature varying between 15-25 ° C.
The drug is released from pharmacies without a prescription. The shelf life of syrup, subject to all recommendations of the manufacturer, is two years.
