Gadelix is an antispasmodic, expectorant.
Release form and composition
Make Gadeliks syrup in bottles of 200 ml, containing 100 ml of thick extract of ivy leaves, 2 g.
Also release drops of Gedelix, in bottles of 50 ml. 1 ml of the solution contains 94 mg of a thick extract of ivy leaves.
The composition of both dosage forms is almost the same, only in drops the concentration of ivy extract is higher, therefore, the dosage of the drug is prescribed different. In addition, drops of Gedelix contains peppermint oil.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Gedelix is indicated for the treatment of the following diseases:
- Bronchial asthma;
Apply the drug in order to quickly dilute the sputum and its rapid removal from the lungs. Thus, general indications for the use of Gedelix are diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by cough. Gedelix is especially effective in the presence of dry cough.
In addition, the drug helps to relax the strained muscles of the bronchi, making breathing easier and more free. Both Gedelix drops and syrup effectively relieve cough symptoms and treat it, showing antibacterial and antifungal activity, improving the microflora of the respiratory organs.
According to the instructions, Gedelix in both dosage forms should not be taken when:
- Hypersensitivity to the active or auxiliary components of the drug;
- Metabolic disorders in the urea cycle.
Gedelix syrup is contraindicated in the hereditary form of fructose intolerance, as well as for children under the age of 1 year.
The drug in the form of drops is not prescribed to patients prone to laryngism, as well as children whose age is under 2 years.
Dosing and Administration
Gedelix syrup is used undiluted, regardless of the meal. Children over 10 years old and adults take 5 ml syrup three times a day. At the age of 4-10 years, the dosage of syrup is 2.5 ml 4 times a day, 1-4 years - 2.5 ml three times a day.
In the form of drops, Gedelix is taken undiluted with plenty of water. You can dilute the drops in fruit juice or tea. Children over 10 years old and adult patients take 31 drops three times a day, children aged 4-10 years - 21 drops three times a day, 2-4 years - 16 drops three times a day.
The duration of the application of Gedeliks syrup and drops is at least one week. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, it is recommended to take the drug for several days. The use of the drug for more than 7 days should be coordinated with your doctor.
The use of gedelix in the form of droplets is not limited to internal reception. It can be used for inhalation. If inhalation is carried out using a nebulizer, the inhalation solution should be diluted with 1: 1 saline (for children from 10 years old and adult patients). Children from 1 year to 10 years should use the ratio of saline and Gedeliks 2: 1. The inhalation temperature is 30-40 degrees.
Inhalations with Gadelix make 2-3 times a day for three days. For children to use inhalation is best before the day and night sleep. Warm steam, saturated with drug molecules, entering the body through the nasopharyngeal mucosa, effectively reduces inflammation and has an antibacterial effect. In this case, inhalations with Gadelix cannot be prescribed at elevated temperature (37.5 and above), frequent bleeding from the nose, or individual intolerance to the drug.
According to the instructions, patients are generally well tolerated by Gedelix, adverse reactions occur rarely. Allergic reactions in the form of urticaria, itching, shortness of breath, angioedema due to hypersensitivity to the active or auxiliary components of the drug, as well as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are possible.
Allowed to change the taste and clouding of the drug due to the content of extractive components.
Patients suffering from diabetes should take into account that 5 ml of sorbitol is contained in 5 ml of Gedelix syrup.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of Gedelix is not recommended, since the effect of the drug has not been adequately studied in this category of patients. The exceptions are chronic diseases of the upper respiratory tract, developing into bronchitis. In this situation, Gadelix therapy during pregnancy and lactation helps to avoid taking antibiotics and eliminate unwanted complications, and, therefore, the use of the drug in this case is justified.

According to the instructions, Gedelix should be stored at room temperature, in a dry and dark place. The shelf life of both dosage forms is 4.5 years.
