Diane-35 is a contraceptive prescribed for women with androgenization phenomena.
Release form and composition
Diane-35 is produced in the form of round light yellow film-coated dragees in blisters of 21 pieces.
The composition of one tablet includes 35 µg of ethinyl estradiol, 2 mg of cyproterone acetate and such excipients as:
- 1.65 mg of talc;
- 31.115 mg of lactose monohydrate;
- 2.1 mg of povidone;
- 0.1 mg of magnesium stearate;
- 18 mg of corn starch.
Diane-35 tablet coating contains 2.148 mg of macrogol 6000, 19.371 mg of sucrose, 4.198 mg of talc, 0.05 mg of mountain glycolic wax, 0.189 mg of povidone 700,000, 0.274 mg of titanium dioxide, 0.027 mg of iron (II) oxide, 8.606 mg calcium carbonate and 0.137 mg glycerol.
Indications for use
Diane-35 is prescribed as a means of contraception for women with androgenization phenomena, as well as for the treatment of acne, mild forms of hirsutism and androgenetic alopecia.
The use of Diane-35 is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as in the following cases:
- Vaginal bleeding of unknown origin;
- Migraines with focal neurological symptoms;
- The states preceding thrombosis;
- Identified hormone-dependent malignant diseases;
- Pancreatitis with severe hypertriglyceridemia;
- Liver tumors;
- Diabetes with vascular complications;
- Multiple or severe risk factors for arterial or venous thrombosis;
- Pregnancy and during the breastfeeding period;
- Severe liver disease.
With care, Diane-35 is prescribed to patients with liver diseases, hypertriglyceridemia, diabetes mellitus, hemolytic uremic syndrome, Crohn's disease, phlebitis of the superficial veins, ulcerative colitis, sickle cell anemia, and also in the following cases:
- Systemic lupus erythematosus;
- Myocardial infarction;
- Diseases that have worsened or have first arisen during pregnancy or during previous intake of sex hormones.
Dosing and Administration
Drops should be taken orally with a small amount of water, strictly in accordance with the procedure indicated on the back of the blister. Diane-35 is important to take at the same time, 1 tablet per day for 3 weeks. The next package of the drug should be started after 1 week after taking the last dragee from the previous blister.
The duration of Diane-35 is directly dependent on the body's response to treatment and the severity of the androgenization symptoms. Usually, the course of drug therapy varies within 2-4 months.
In cases of seborrhea and acne, the positive effect of the agent is observed earlier than with alopecia or hirsutism.
It is recommended, after easing the symptoms of diseases, to use the drug for another 3-4 cycles. If a few weeks after the cancellation of Diane-35 there is a relapse, the course of drug therapy can be repeated.
Taking pills in the absence of the use of any hormonal contraceptives in the previous month should be started on the first day of the menstrual cycle.
Patients after an abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy can begin taking Diane-35 immediately, and after an abortion or a birth in the second trimester of pregnancy - after 21-28 days.
The instructions for Diane-35 indicate that the agent can cause intermenstrual bleeding, headache, nausea, vomiting, and also:
- Blurred vision;
- Skin rash;
- Hearing loss;
- Breast engorgement;
- Weight gain;
- Decrease in mood;
- Change in libido;
- Generalized itching;
- Swelling of the eyelids.
Symptoms of a Diane-35 overdose are spotting, nausea, vomiting, and metrorrhagia. In such cases, symptomatic therapy is required.
It should be borne in mind that the use of combined oral contraceptives can influence the results of laboratory parameters, and also increases the risk of arterial and venous thrombosis.
Before starting the use of Diane-35, patients are recommended to undergo a thorough gynecological and general medical examination, as well as to eliminate violations of the blood coagulation system and pregnancy.
With long-term use of funds should be every six months to control tests.
Patients should be warned that Diane-35 does not protect against AIDS, HIV infections, and other sexually transmitted diseases.
