Dekamevit is a multivitamin preparation prescribed to patients with vitamin deficiency and hypovitaminosis.
Release form and composition
Dekamevit produced in the form of biconvex coated with a greenish-yellow shell round tablets with a characteristic odor, 10 pcs. in blisters.
The composition of one tablet includes the following active ingredients:
- 0.0001 gcyanocobalamin;
- At 0.01 g of alpha-tocopherol and riboflavin;
- 0.05 g of nicotinamide;
- 0.00227 g of retinol acetate;
- 0.02 g of pyridoxine hydrochloride, rutin and thiamine hydrochloride;
- 0.002 g folic acid;
- 0.2 g of ascorbic acid and methionine.
Also, tablets contain excipients - calcium stearate, potato starch, lactose monohydrate and anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide.
The shell of the Dekamevit tablets consists of sugar, titanium dioxide, povidone, silicon dioxide, colloidal anhydrous, magnesium lung carbonate, mineral oil lung, flour, talc, yellow wax and dye quinoline yellow.
Indications for use
The drug is used for hypovitaminosis and beriberi, resulting from prolonged treatment with antibiotics, intoxication of various origins, physical or mental exhaustion.
Dekamevit is also used to optimize metabolism in elderly patients.
Multivitamin medication is not prescribed to children under 18 years of age, as well as in case of hypersensitivity to the components included in its composition.
The use of Dekamevita contraindicated in patients with chronic heart failure, gout, thyrotoxicosis, chronic glomerulonephritis, hyperuricemia, as well as in cases of:
- Chronic glomerulonephritis;
- Severe renal dysfunction;
- Hypervitaminosis A and E;
- Glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome;
- Fructose intolerance;
- Active peptic ulcers of the stomach and duodenum.
- History of sarcoidosis;
The use of the drug during pregnancy and during the lactation period is permissible only on prescription.
With caution Dekamevit used in coronary heart disease, gallstone and urolithiasis, tumors, nephritis, diabetes, peptic ulcer 12 duodenal ulcer and stomach, as well as in cases of chronic pancreatitis and severe liver damage.
Dosing and Administration
Tablets Dekamevit must be taken orally, with a glass of water after a meal, 1 pc. twice a day. The duration of drug therapy is 20 days, with a possible repetition of the course after 2-3 months.
The most frequent side effects that occur with long-term use of Dekamevita are as follows:
- Dryness and cracks in the feet and hands;
- Irritation of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract;
- Seborrheic eruptions;
- Hair loss;
- Decreased glucose tolerance;
- Blurred vision;
- Impaired renal function;
- Increased sweating.
The instructions to Decamevita indicate that the drug may cause side effects from some body systems, namely:
- Drowsiness, headache, increased irritability and dizziness (central nervous system);
- Diarrhea, increased secretion of gastric juice, nausea, dyspeptic disorders and vomiting (digestive system);
- Rash, urticaria, itching and redness of the skin (subcutaneous tissue and skin).
In case of an overdose of Dekamevita, allergic reactions, lethargy, dyspepsia, headache, drowsiness, abnormal liver function, facial hyperemia, irritability, deterioration of the hair and skin occur. The patient in such cases should cancel the reception of funds and seek help from a doctor.
Dekamevit cannot be taken in combination with other multivitamin preparations.
It is recommended during the period of drug therapy to exercise caution when conducting potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions. Such precautions are related to the fact that Decamevit may cause drowsiness and dizziness.
The drug is not recommended to be taken in cases of hereditary intolerance to galactose, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome and lactase deficiency, since its composition includes lactose.
Due to the fact that riboflavin is included in the composition, during the application period of Dekamevita, urine staining in yellow color can be observed.
The drug is synonymous with Ribovital, Vitrum Beauty, Doppelgerz Energotonik, Multiproduct and Gitagamp.
The analogs of the Decamevit are Neurogamma, Pikovit, Tetrafolevit, Heksavit, Revit, Makrovit, Soluvit N, Aerovit, Vitasharm, Undevit and Jungle.
Terms and conditions of storage
In accordance with the instructions, Decamevit should be stored in a dark, dry and out of reach of children, at room temperature.
Pharmacies are dispensed over-the-counter. Its shelf life is two years.
