Bromocamphor is a synthetic drug that has a pronounced sedative effect.
Release form and composition
Bromocamphor tablets are made containing 250 mg of camphor bromine in each. Auxiliary components of the drug are magnesium stearate, stearic acid, croscarmellose sodium, low molecular weight medical polyvinylpyrrolidone, potato starch.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Bromocamphor is indicated for therapy:
- Increased excitability;
- Increased irritability;
- Neurosis of the heart;
- Cardioneurosis, including fluctuations in blood pressure, cardialgia, tachycardia.
Bromkamfory application is also indicated for the treatment of mastopathy and cessation of lactation.
According to the instructions, Bromcamphor is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Severe liver and / or kidney function;
- Lactation period;
- Renal and / or liver failure;
- Hypersensitivity to the active or auxiliary components of the drug.
Do not prescribe Bromcafor children under the age of seven years.
Dosing and Administration
Bromkamfory tablets are taken orally after a meal. The dosage of the drug is chosen individually, depending on the age of the patient. As a rule, 1-2 tablets are prescribed twice or thrice a day for adults. Children aged 10-14 years old Bromkamfor is shown in a dose of 1 tablet two or three times a day, 7-10 years old - 1 tablet twice a day.
It is recommended to use Bromkamfory at regular intervals, for example, every 6-8 hours. If, for any reason, Bromkamfory's intake has been missed, you should drink a pill immediately after the patient remembers it. And the next pill should be taken 6-8 hours after taking the previous one.
The use of Bromkamfory can cause the following side effects from various body systems:
- Dyspeptic symptoms in the form of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain;
- Daytime sleepiness;
- Slowing down the reaction rate;
- Allergic reactions due to hypersensitivity to the drug.
When using Bromkamfory in overestimated dosages, the following symptoms may develop:
- Abdominal pain;
- Taste of camphor in mouth;
- Labored breathing;
- Respiratory failure;
- Muscle twitching;
- Anuria (decrease in the amount of urine excreted);
- Delirium and other mental disorders characterized by a disorder of consciousness;
- Epileptiform convulsions.
With long-term use of the drug in high dosages, the development of bromism is not excluded - bromine poisoning, accompanied by symptoms such as dermatitis, bronchitis, apathy, gastrointestinal upset, decreased sexual activity, anorexia and sleep, psychosis.
In the case of acute Bromkamforora poisoning, self-perception disorder, depression, orientation disorders, derealization can develop.
In the case of an overdose of Bromkamfory, the patient should do a gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment.
Since Bromkamphor has a depressant effect on the central nervous system, during the period of drug therapy it is recommended to refrain from driving a vehicle and other potentially dangerous mechanisms that require increased concentration of attention.
Structural analogues Bromkamfory does not exist. To select a similar drug that has a sedative effect, you should consult with your doctor.

According to the instructions, Bromkamphor should be stored in a dry, dark, out of reach of children. The shelf life of the drug is 5 years.
