BetaSalik - a corticosteroid, intended for external use, has anti-inflammatory and keratolytic effect.
Release form and composition
Available in the form of ointment, 1 gram of which contains:
- 0.64 mg betametozone;
- 30 mg salicylic acid;
- Excipients: mineral oil, soft white paraffin.
The ointment BetaSalik in tubes of 15 g is sold.
Indications for use
According to the instructions to BetaSalik, this drug is intended for the treatment of:
- Subacute and chronic dermatosis, accompanied by desquamation and hyperkeratosis;
- Acute and chronic eczema;
- Atopic dermatitis;
- Red lichen;
- Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp;
- Ichthyosis and ichthyosiform changes.
In accordance with the instructions to BetaSalik, the use of the drug is contraindicated in:
- Skin manifestations of syphilis;
- Skin tuberculosis;
- Perioral dermatitis;
- Chicken pox;
- Skin tumors;
- Open wounds;
- Trophic ulcers caused by chronic venous insufficiency;
- Skin vaccine reactions;
- Acne vulgaris;
- Hypersensitivity to any active or auxiliary component.
In pediatrics, BetaSalik is not used for children under one year old.
Prescribe the drug, but with extreme caution and mandatory monitoring of the treatment process in patients with liver failure, as well as long-term therapy if necessary, especially with the use of occlusive dressings and / or when treating large areas of skin.
Dosing and Administration
Ointment Betasalik is intended for external use only. It is necessary to apply a thin layer on the affected skin, gently rubbing twice a day. If necessary, but strictly on the recommendation of a doctor, the frequency of application of the drug may be increased or decreased.
The duration of therapy is determined by the relief of the inflammatory process, the cessation of itching, cleansing of the skin. However, the maximum duration of treatment with Betasalik is 10 days for adults and 5 days for children. If during this period there is no improvement in the condition, as well as in the event of signs of sensitization or irritation, it is necessary to consult a doctor for a more accurate diagnosis and, possibly, a change in the therapeutic regimen.
In most cases, according to reviews of patients, BetaSalik is well tolerated. However, in some cases the following side effects may occur:
- Dry skin;
- Allergic contact dermatitis;
- Acne-like rash.
When using occlusive dressings and / or long-term treatment, the described adverse events may occur more often. In addition, the development of a secondary infection, skin maceration, prickly heat, skin atrophy, purpura is possible.
When applying ointment BetaSalik on large areas of the body there is a risk of systemic side effects, especially if the skin is damaged and in children:
- Intrinsic glucocorticosteroids - suppression of the function of the pituitary-adrenal system, which can lead to symptoms of hypercorticism and the development of secondary adrenal insufficiency;
- Salicylates characteristic is nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, dizziness, confusion, metabolic disorders, confusion, psychosis, delirium, coma with a possible fatal outcome.
There is no special antidote for Betasalik. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is indicated. If necessary, carry out the correction of water and electrolyte disorders. When salicism is recommended to conduct measures aimed at accelerating the elimination of salicylates from the body. In order to alkalize the urine and increase diuresis, sodium bicarbonate is administered orally.
It is forbidden to exceed the duration of use of BetaSalik recommended by a doctor.
The drug is not intended for use in ophthalmology. Do not apply on the skin around the eyes, and when using the ointment, take special care to prevent it from falling into the eyes and mucous membranes.
Atrophic changes may appear on the skin more often than on other parts of the body. For this reason, treatment in this area should be limited to 5 days.
With extreme caution and under constant medical supervision, the drug is used in pediatrics, since children have a particularly high risk of systemic side effects associated with salicylic acid and betamethasone.
Clinical experience with BetaSalika during pregnancy is not enough. Therefore, during this period of a woman's life, a drug is prescribed only if there is vital evidence, taking into account the ratio of the expected benefits for the future mother and the possible risks to her child. If necessary, treatment during lactation is recommended to stop breastfeeding.
With the simultaneous use of resorcinol or tretinoin possible manifestations of increased dryness and irritation of the skin. Other clinically significant interactions of BetaSalic with other drugs are not described in the instructions, however, the possibility of using any other drug should be coordinated with your doctor.
