Ambene belongs to the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in combination with glucocorticosteroids.
Release form and composition
The drug is available as an intramuscular solution. Located in double ampoules of types A and B. One pack contains 3 or 10 pieces of ampoules of each type. Also included is a syringe with two chambers for each of the solutions, a napkin and a plaster.
The composition of solution A of the drug Ambene (volume - 2 ml):
- 3.32 mg dexamethasone;
- 4 mg lidocaine hydrochloride;
- 375 mg of phenylbutazone;
- 49.08 mg sodium hydroxide;
- 150 mg of sodium salicylamide;
- 1675.92 mg of water for injection.
In solution B (volume - 1 ml) contains:
- 2.5 mg cyanocobalamin;
- 2 mg lidocaine hydrochloride;
- 996.5 mg of water for injection.
Indications for use Ambene
Ambene is effective for short-term treatment of acute conditions caused by inflammation of the joints (arthritis), osteoarthritis, radiculitis, neuralgia, degenerative diseases of the spine, with a violation of the structure of the tissue and severe pain, sports injuries.
It is recommended to refuse the use of the drug to persons with hypersensitivity to NSAIDs, acute gastritis, duodenal ulcer and stomach ulcers, acute myocardial infarction, other myocardial diseases accompanied by conduction disturbances, and chronic heart failure in the decompensation phase. Also, according to the instructions for Ambien, the drug is not suitable for patients with severe impaired renal function, thyroid or liver. In addition, contraindications are:
- Viral infections, including chickenpox, poliomyelitis, herpes;
- Glaucoma, myopathy, Sjogren's syndrome, myasthenia gravis;
- Systemic mycosis;
- Systemic lupus erythematosus, temporal arteritis, hemorrhagic diathesis, rheumatic polymyalgia;
- Stomatitis, pancreatitis;
- Lymphadenitis associated with the administration of BCG, a period of 2 months before and 2 weeks after vaccination;
- Surgical intervention;
- Breastfeeding, pregnancy;
- Older age and age less than 14 years.
Dosing and Administration Ambene
Ambene solution should be administered intramuscularly, deep into the gluteal muscle. It is recommended to observe the frequency of no more than 3 injections in 7 days, one injection every day or every other day. The interval between two courses should not be less than a few weeks.
To obtain an injection solution, first liquid is collected from ampoule A, then from ampoule B.
Side Effects of Ambene
Application Ambene can affect the work of the nervous system, causing excitement, dizziness, sleep disturbances, headache. In rare cases - mental disorders, hearing and vision disorders.
On the part of the cardiovascular system, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, aplastic anemia may occur, hypotension and orthostatic collapse are less common.
Reactions from the digestive system can manifest as anorexia, gastralgia, nausea, ulcerogenic action, diarrhea, vomiting, and less often in disorders of liver function and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Due to the fact that phenylbutazone, which is part of Ambene, affects the function of the thyroid gland, tests related to its research are carried out not earlier than 2 weeks after discontinuation of therapy with Ambene.
In addition, due to the content of cyanocobalamin in the drug, the use of Ambene can distort the clinical and laboratory parameters in patients with pernicious anemia and funicular myelosis.
Ambien should be taken with caution in patients with impaired renal function, diabetes, tuberculosis, epilepsy, bronchial asthma, mental disorders, chronic lung diseases, asthma, amebiasis, bacterial infections in the acute or chronic phase.
It is recommended to carry out treatment with a minimum dose of the drug in order to avoid the development of negative reactions.
Injections are administered in fully sterile conditions. To prevent irritation at the injection site, the needle should be inserted deeply into different areas.
