Altan is a complex drug from the active components of the alder seed buds with sticky sulfur belonging to the birch family.
Release form and composition
Make Altan tablets 10 mg, in a package of 20 or 100 pieces.
The medication contains polysaccharides, tannins, polyphenolic compounds, organic acids, flavonoids.
Auxiliary components of the drug are: potato starch, calcium stearate, lactose monohydrate, film-forming coating.
Indications for use Altana
According to the instructions, Altan is shown in the following cases:
- Gastritis (with any pathologies of gastric acid formation);
- Intestinal dysbacteriosis;
- Non-ulcer dyspepsia.
In case of peptic ulcer of the gastrointestinal tract, Altan is prescribed as part of a complex treatment.
According to the instructions, Altan is contraindicated only in the case of individual tolerance to tannins and other components of the drug.
It is not recommended to prescribe Altan to children under the age of 9 years, as no studies have been conducted regarding the safety of its use for this age group.
Do not use Altan in combination with drugs, which include aluminum, bismuth, iron, magnesium hydroxide, metal ions. Since the drug contains polyphenol, which forms complexes with metal salts, as a result of the combinatorial use of these drugs, its pharmacological activity of Altana is lost.
Dosing and Administration Altana
Altan tablets are intended for internal use. Take the medicine for 15-20 minutes before a meal. As a rule, patients are prescribed Altan at a dosage of 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.
Teenagers aged 9-16 years should take 1 tablet 2 times a day.
Side effects of Altana
Patients noted good tolerability of Altana. Sometimes it is possible the development of allergic reactions in the form of rash and itching caused by hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Altana may be used by pregnant and lactating women, but only if there are strict indications for it.
The combined use of Altana with NSAIDs leads to a mutual strengthening of the anti-inflammatory action.
Since the preparation contains lactose, it should not be used in patients with rare inherited disorders of carbohydrate tolerance (glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, congenital galactosemia, lactase deficiency).
With long-term intake of Altana in high dosages, hypersensitivity to the drug in the form of allergic reactions may occur. In this case, it is recommended to stop taking the medicine, induce vomiting and to carry out symptomatic treatment.
