Adrianol refers to a synthetic vasoconstrictor drugs intended for local use in the treatment of rhinitis and sinusitis.
Release form and composition
Adrianol is available in the form of drops for adults and children. The content of active substances - phenylephrine hydrochloride and tramazolin hydrochloride - is different in them.
Adrianol nasal drops for use by adults contain 1 ml of 1 mg of phenylephrine hydrochloride and 1.5 mg of tramazolin hydrochloride in 1 ml. In addition, auxiliary components were added to the solution: 2-valent phenylmercury borate, methylcellulose M.N.V. 10,000, purified water, citric acid monohydrate, aqueous ammonia, ethanol 96%, sodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, glycerol. The drops are packaged in 10 ml dropper bottles. Vials are located in cartons.
The children's version of Adrianol drops in 1 ml of solution contains 500 μg of phenylephrine hydrochloride and 500 μg of tramazolin hydrochloride. Additives and packaging are the same as for adults.
Indications for use Adrianola
In the instructions for Adrianol, rhinitis and sinusitis in acute stages are indicated as the main indications. The drug can also be used as an auxiliary decongestant during surgical interventions and diagnostic procedures.
The use of Adrianol is not recommended in the presence of the diseases described below:
- With thyrotoxicosis;
- In case of hypersensitivity to one or several components of Adrianol;
- With glaucoma;
- With pheochromocytoma;
- With hypertension;
- With severe kidney damage;
- With atherosclerosis;
- With atrophic rhinitis;
- In ischemic heart disease.
Dosing and Administration Adrianol
Adrianol nasal drops for adults should be instilled in adults and children whose age is more than 5 years, up to 4 times per day, 1, 2 or 3 drops in each nostril.
Adrianol nasal drops for children are used in babies whose age is less than 5 years. The medicine can be used from birth. In this case, children under 5 years old, but older than a year, you must bury 2 drops of the drug up to 3 times per day. Infants up to one year old drug is instilled one drop in each nostril half an hour before the start of feeding.
Adrianol side effects
Undesirable reactions caused by taking Adrianol, rarely occur. However, before using it, you should familiarize yourself with the list of possible side effects. According to the instructions to Adrianol, these include: dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, soreness, burning sensation. They pass independently and do not require cancellation of drug treatment.
Prolonged use of Adrianol (more than 3 weeks) is fraught with a decrease in the severity and duration of its anti-edema action.
Adrianol is not recommended for severe kidney disease.
Pregnant and lactating women should not take the drug, because there are no data proving its safety during pregnancy and feeding.
Data on drugs that are similar in their mode of action and composition with Adrianol are not available.
Terms and conditions of storage
Adrianol droplets should not be stored for more than 3 years from the date of issue. Store the drug should be at a temperature not exceeding the 25-degree mark, in a dark place, protected from moisture.
