Abomin is an enzyme drug with a proteolytic effect, and therefore improves the digestive process in people with insufficient enzymatic activity of gastric juice.
Release form and composition
The medicine is produced in the form of tablets containing abomin - the amount of proteolytic enzymes (rennet) in an amount of 50 thousand IU, obtained from the mucous membrane of the stomach of lambs and calves of dairy age, acting on dietary proteins (mainly milk).
By itself, the active component of the drug is a yellowish-gray powder with a specific smell and having a salty taste, due to the content of impurities of sodium chloride. Abomin tablets also have this smell characteristic of rennet.
Auxiliary substances used in the production of Abomin are calcium stearate and potato starch.
Tablets are available in a contoured cell-free or in a blister pack of 10 each.
Indications for use Abomina
As indicated in the official instructions for Abomin, this drug is intended for the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, which is characterized by a violation of digestive capacity and a decrease in the acidity of gastric juice. In particular, it is prescribed for:
- Gastritis, including anacid and hypoacid;
- Condition after gastrectomy.
It should be borne in mind that Abomin normalizes digestion, promotes better digestion of proteins, fats and carbohydrates and their full absorption in the small intestine, and therefore is used as a replacement therapy, preventing the development of complications and eliminating unpleasant symptoms caused by the underlying disease. For this reason, in most cases, Abomin is used as part of complex therapy.
Also, the use of Abomin, according to reviews, it is advisable for intestinal dysbiosis and constipation.
It is allowed to use this enzyme in case of heavy meals (for example, at a holiday), so that it is easier and faster to digest.
According to the instructions to Abomin, the drug should not be taken in the presence of individual hypersensitivity to any of its constituent components, as well as in case of obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract.
As for the use of the drug in pediatrics, due to the lack of data on the effectiveness and safety of children under 14 years old, it is not recommended to take it.
Dosing and Administration Abomin
Abomin tablets, according to the instructions, should be taken orally for 1 pc. three times a day during the meal. A standard course of treatment can last from one to two months. In some cases, at the discretion of the doctor, the dose may be increased to 2-3 tablets at a time, and the duration of therapy extended to three months.
Patients with acute gastritis, colitis and gastroenteritis are recommended to take 1 tablet three times a day for 2-3 days.
And although this drug is not recommended for patients under 14 years of age due to the relatively high content of active ingredients, some doctors in a small dosage prescribe Abomin for children with disorders of appetite and digestion. So, children 6-14 years old - 1/2 tablet, children under 5 years old - 1/4 tab. The course of treatment of children usually lasts no more than 10-14 days. However, it should be borne in mind that you can not give this tool to young children who have observed regurgitation and vomiting.
Side effects of Abomin
Numerous reviews of patients who have undergone treatment with Abomin indicate that in the vast majority of cases the drug is well tolerated and does not have any side effects if the recommended dosage is observed. However, it should be borne in mind that sometimes the body reacts with heartburn and nausea to the intake of this enzyme. Also in individual cases, the development of allergic reactions due to hypersensitivity to one or another component of the drug.
Data on the use of Abomin during pregnancy are not available. Therefore, only the doctor can determine the feasibility of prescribing this type of patient, carefully comparing the potential benefits for the expectant mother and the potential risks to her child. For the same reason, at the time of treatment with this medication, breastfeeding is recommended to stop.
Cases of overdose Abomin to date have not been reported.
